Deciphering Science Snip It 4/4/12

Students learning has been focusing around the learning target: I can use the rock cycle to explain the similarities and differences between sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks.  Students have been investigating characteristics of rocks that they have found around their yards.  They have identified characteristics that make them similar to one another and those that make them different from one another.  Student have observed crystals, layers, sediments, textures, colors and hardness of the different rocks. After break students will be learning about sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rocks, how they form and what characteristics are important in identifying the different types of rocks.

Have a wonderful break.

Thanks,
